What does this look like in Action?

Many of our investors have known us for years, or decades. The longest relationship we have with one of our investors is now sitting at about 61 years! Rob’s sister Ellen is an investor in two of Shining Rock Equities projects. He also has high school and college friends as investors!

For many though, these are people we have met organically through mutual connections in the past few years. To build up the level of trust, we send out bi-weekly education and updates so you can see how we present ourselves, and start to get to know us and how we view investment opportunities.

1. Pre-Investment

As mentioned, much of the content that we put out is educational in nature. Some of it is general education that should hold true no matter what time period we are in, whereas other information is more based around current events that affect those of us in investment real estate, including limited partners. This allows people to stay up to data, while building their foundational knowledge. 

2. Offering Information

2-4 times per year we will present our investors with an opportunity. Sometimes, these opportunities only go to people we have actually spoken with. Other times, they will go to our broader network, even if we had not previously met. Depending on the structure of the investment will determine who we can share the deal with. If you would like to see all of our opportunities, schedule some time here to make sure we are a good fit. Offering information will include deal highlights, business plan, and investment decks. We hold public webinars for people to ask questions and get a deeper understanding of the opportunity. Many investors wish to meet with us 1-1 to explore in a more personal fashion if the investment is right for them and ensure investors can make an informed decision.

3. During the Investment Period

During the investment period is arguably the most important time for communication. The capital is officially deployed into the opportunity and with these being illiquid investments, it’s going to be deployed for the life of the investment. Depending on the opportunity, we send monthly or quarterly reports along with other important information on tax document timing, etc.
